TOP 3 IN DELHI

Three's party in Indian Idol

The Top 3 finalists of Indian Idol are rocking the country and what better place to do it than in the capital itself. Anuj, Karunya and Sandeep arrived at New Delhi airport only to be flocked with fans begging for autographs and pictures with the new stars on the block. Despite the sweltering heat, they traveled throughout the city, interacting with their Delhi fans for the first time and getting a “feel” of the true Northern hospitality.

The three finalists spent an unforgettable afternoon jamming with Indian Ocean, the Delhi based Rock band who have taken the country by storm with their unusual Indi-Rock albums. The Band members gelled with the Idol contestants instantly and before you knew it, they were playing music together and singing old favorites and new hits. They seemed to be having so much fun that Anuj, Karunya and Sandeep had to be dragged away after a while to fulfill their other commitments.

The Idols then went on to perform at the 3 biggest and the most happening joints of Delhi, where dilliwalas got a once in a lifetime chance to interact with the contestants whose story they’ve been following for so many months. Girls, who’ve kept track of each changing hairstyle and crack in Karunya’s voice, got an opportunity to watch him in person and that’s a chance none of them could afford to miss!

The Delhi trip was a proof that the show has reached out to the far ends of the nation bringing together the extreme north and the south! When host Mini Mathur mentioned Karunya’s concern of not receiving votes from the northern part of India due to his south Indian roots, an unconvinced and true fan of Karunya, a Sardarji came on the stage to reassure him!

“I am from North India but I truly believe in your talent and vote for you every week and will keep doing so till you become the Indian Idol…Karunya you deserve to be India’s next Indian Idol!” assured the confident Sardarji to Karunya. Encouraged by such sweet gestures, Karunya went on to perform Punjabi numbers with Punjabi dancing troops to prove that not only could he sing Punjabi tunes but also dance to the same tunes in Bhangra Style!

The Top 3’s growing talent is not only stunning the viewers but the very people who brought them in the first place – The Indian Idol Judges! Farah Khan was so awed by Karunya’s Live performance that she especially came on stage to applaud him and promised to vote for him and for the first time a judge herself announced a contestant’s voting details!

Experience their passion, their craziness, their madness about music and their brilliant talent! Catch them as they display their expertise on Sony Entertainment Television! The action hits your TV Sets at 9 pm, so tune in to experience the frenzy and be a part of the mania that is spreading across the country.

Judges walk out of ‘Indian Idol’

When Amey's name was announced, Sonu Nigam suddenly stood up and spoke on behalf of the two other judges that they wouldn't want to be part of this decision that India has taken to oust Amey. "Viewer's don't know how to vote or I guess, I am expecting too much from the Indian audiences. How can they vote out Amey Date? He is a true singer..." cried Anu Malik painfully. Later, in his trademark style, he made an offer to Amey for playback singing with him

While all this high drama unfolded in support of Amey Date, the guy who caused all this grief, Anuj Sharma from Himachal Pradesh looked on. He looked grim and uneasy as the poor guy hasn't heard even a word in his favour ever since he joined the rest of the gang in the gala rounds, by default. He had won a bit of applause from the judges in this round for singing ‘Chal chhaiyan’ but was still considered the weakest contestant in the show. He has been facing extremely humiliating situations and comments from the judges all through but it seems that the voting public loves him and he gets chosen every time despite heaps of negative comments on the show

The judges were brought back by the hosts, Mini Mathur and Aman Verma on the stage where the rest of the action took place. When they suggested that this round should be replayed, finally someone spoke up for the poor guy who bore the brunt of all the negative emotions there, Anuj Sharma. His firebrand niece, who sat in the live audience stood up for him and argued with the judges.

Amey was believed by many including the participants to be the main contender for the title. But the ninth gala round of ‘Indian Idol’ had something else in store for this talented singer. The contestants had celebrated Holi with the special guest Diya Mirza one day before the results. They had sung two songs each in this round, out of which one was a Holi song. Though Karunya had stolen the show with everyone singing his praises but Amey too had heard positive comments from the judges
"The performances were mind blowing, I knew that the show is really high class but I got the taste of its true class today." expressed Diya Mirza. "Whether you can become the 'Indian Idol', is not the main factor. We have chosen a diamond like you is the prime fact. If you don't become the idol, it's not at all your loss; it's a great loss for the nation." commented Sonu on Karunya

The title is just two steps ahead and the competition has now become fierce with just 3 men left. Will it be Karunya from Hyderabad, Sandeep from Bikaner or Anuj from Himachal…keep watching this space…

Amey Date voted out of Indian Idol

Judges walk out in disbelief, because this time it was the viewer's heartthrob, 'Mumbaicha Mulga', Amey Date who has been voted out of the show. Good singers were constantly being voted out, but this time it was very hard for the judges to accept the vote-out of one of the strongest contenders Amey Date. On the announcement of Amey's elimination, Sonu Nigam suddenly stood up and spoke on behalf of the two other judges that they wouldn't want to be part of this decision that India has taken to oust Ameya from the show!

"Viewer's don't know how to vote? Or I guess I am expecting too much from Indian audiences how can they vote out Amey Date? He is a true singer Wonder how others garnered more votes than Amey Date!" cried Anu Malik painfully.

What might seem as an emotional outburst to many of the Indian
viewer's, this is the reality of reality television. No barricades and no security could stop the audience from breaking into an uproar as the name 'Amey Date' was announced. Unlimited tears, emotions and protest engulfed the sets of Indian Idol as the man with the finest talent of music had to bid farewell to the show. The entire audience along with the judges were screaming for a Re-Match.

Taking control of the situation was the 'Man' himself, "I do not want a 'Re-match' as it is the people who have made their choice. It would not be fair to Anuj. It is not Anuj's fault that he has received more votes, he is the viewer's choice at the end of the day," consoled Amey.

"Time and again, viewer's have witnessed singers being voted out of the show, but Amey's failure is a true loss to the show Indian Idol will not remain the same!" said Farah Khan with tears in her eyes. In complete disbelief of the outcome of the viewers votes she further added, "We really should look at a rematch in Amey's case as he is a brilliant singer and if he were to get out of the show right now it would mean a real defeat of upcoming and deserving Indian talent. We appeal to the audiences to wake up before it's too late!!!" continued ace choreographer and director Farah Khan.

Commenting on the unexpected development and change of course on the show in its near final stage, N.P. Singh, COO, SET India Private Limited, said "Indian Idol is an international format reality show. We have to adhere to the basic format and there is no scope to make alterations. The show invites people at large to choose their own Indian Idol and it is the votes of the people that determine the winner at each stage. The voting process is sacrosanct and Indian Idol truly remains a show of the people, for the people, by the people. Sony Entertainment Television will confine to the format followed world over and will not be looking at a rematch."

The elimination of Amey Date leaves us with the top three finalists of Indian Idol Series 2 Karunya, Sandeep, Anuj, and the show must go on.

ANTRA MITRA IS OUT

Antara Mitra voted out of Indian Idol
And this time around in a most shocking and tragic elimination round the nation witnessed the vote out of Anu Malik's dream female Idol - Antara Mitra!!! The only girl in the show has been voted out... a highly talented, the highly appraised and a favourite of all judges...Antara was in shatters!
The platform that had reached out to the nooks and corners of the nation and had brought out talents like Antara had to leave her behind and move on with the TOP 4 Finalists of Indian Idol 2 - Amey, Karunya, Sandeep and Anuj. The results were devastating for the audience as well as the judges who had always believed in Antara and the fact that she had the perfect voice for playback singing. Farah had also felt that her makeover had done some brilliant positive changes to her personality. While all the judges felt that Anuj or Sandeep should have been voted out, they were quite shocked when Anuj was declared safe.

"It is true that I know regret our decision of getting back Anuj...he hasn't shown the kind of talent that we expected out of him...we should have considered better options," said a regretful Sonu.

Anu Malik on the other hand couldn't get over the fact that his favourite contestant was voted out. He went up on the stage and promised to make Antara sing for him!!! Antara though at a loss at being voted out of Indian Idol thought that she had gained a lot too from that very platform. "This stage has given me sooo much...such glamour...such recognition...that though I am upset about the vote out but I am quite content with the Indian Idol stage! Though out of Indian Idol... I am not going back to my village, I am going to stick on here in Mumbai and make my name in the music industry," said a tearful yet confident Antara.

The only female contestant is now out. Voting out every single extremely talented female singer out of the race just questions the judging criteria of the viewers. Neha Kakkar, Monali Thakur, Meenal Jain and now the highly talented deserving finalist Antara Mitra......the nation surely did not want a female singer but to vote out good singers would be a heavy loss for us. To vote for your favourite singer and the best singer tune in to Sony Entertainment TV only on Mondays and Tuesdays at 9 PM.

GALA 8

GALA 8 WEDDING SONG SPECIAL

The Indian Idol 2 stage had never looked so gorgeous and stunning. The stage was set with red, white and pink flowers...red and pink ribbons floated everywhere on the stage... the TOP 5 FINALISTS were all dressed in traditional attire...the whole feel and the look of the stage reflected a grand wedding! The stage had never before rocked this hard when the TOP 5 gave in their best and sang "Sapnay mein rehti hai o kudi meri sapnay mein rehti hai". And why not, when it was the wedding songs special on Indian Idol 2! AND this time around Indian Idol 2 raised its bar and stretched out to hardcore music industry by inviting the YOUNG and TALENTED MUSIC DIRECTORS of Neal n Nikki, Kaal, Aitraaz and many more blockbusters SALEEM - SULEIMAAN as celebrity judges.
YOUNG and FRESH MUSIC DIRECTORS, SALEEM - SULEIMAAN, were thrilled at the "Idol Experience" and made it quite evident that these TOP 5 are certainly to be heard singing their tunes soon! "I had heard praises about the show and the contestants...and so I had really wanted to visit this stage and the performers who rock the stage to experience it myself...and such a platform is always very useful for composers like us who are forever on the look out for fresh talent!" commented Saleem.

"Being the only girl left in the race now, I quite fear a vote out...well known Music Directors like Saleem-Suleimaan give us the hope that our music career might just not end with this stage...this exposure helps us a lot in establishing our name in the industry even if we don't win the title!" commented the pretty eastern beauty, Antara.

KARUNYA's performance as usual was praised and complimented the most but this time around he was compared to the others like NEVER BEFORE!!! "This time Karunya had raised the bar to such a level that we were expecting the same level or more from the others...which is why probably we were a little disappointed." said a highly impressed Anu Malik. All five judges couldn't help but compare him constantly with the others and praise his performance more than criticise others.

Songs sung by the TOP 5:
1. Karunya - Koi Jaane koi na jaane
2. Antara - Mere haathon mein nau nau chudiyan hai
3. Sandeep - Mehendi Laga ke rakhna
4. Anuj - Saajan ji ghar aaye
5. Amey - Maahi Ve

RESULT G.R.7

MEENAL IS OUT

Before Antara, Karunya, Amey, Meenal, Sandeep and Anuj walked onto the stage together for the last time, they all held hands and said a prayer for friendship together.

At a time like this, where the uncertainty of their future is so evident, they felt praying would keep them calm.

As the cameras began to roll, the Judges were asked their opinions on who they thought would not make the break into Indian Idol`s Top Five.

Anu Malik and Sonu Nigam felt Anuj, Meenal and Sandeep would be in the bottom three, but Sonu Nigam also added that the audience would probably feel that either Antara or Karunya should be voted out.

Farah Khan`s guess was that Sandeep, Anuj and Amey would earn the lowest number of votes.

However, according to the official vote count, Meenal, Karunya, and for the first time Antara, were the three in the Dangerous Bottom Three.

`I don’t know what this country is looking for when they cast their votes,` said Judge Farah Khan.

`The three who we felt will definitely be in the Top 3, have got least number of votes,` said Anu Malik who had always pointed towards Anuj or Sandeep to be voted out this week.

`Yet again a good singer will be voted out. What fault does the audience see in a flawless singer like Karunya?` asked Sonu Nigam, who always felt that he deserves to be in the top 3.

While all three were singled out and made to stand apart from the others on stage, the audience waited anxiously to hear the name of the one who would leave. The result was finally announced and Meenal Jain was voted out.

The strong Meenal took defeat in her stride and kept her head held high throughout the shoot. Host Aman Verma referred to her as the Queen of the Bottom Three, as she had taken the news with such sportsmanship and dignity.

But this would not last long, as Meenal broke down towards the end of the show during the `Thank yous`. She choked while thanking her mother for all her support. Meenal`s parents have sacrificed a lot for their daughter’s singing career, and have even lived in separate cities so that she could get the right training and exposure.

After a repeat performance of the song she sang in the last gala, the judges congratulated her on her effort so far and wished her luck for the future.

`Meenal had been a consistent performer and a very diligent singer,` said Anu Malik, who had actually congratulated her on stage after her last moving performance of Hum Dil De Chunke Sanam.

He made it a point to promise her a chance in a movie of his. Farah Khan, however, had said that her last performance was `boring` and didn`t have the thrilling factor that she had displayed before.

Sonu Nigam, too, had felt that there was a sort of laziness setting into Meenal`s performance, saying maybe her success on the show so far had got to her head.

As Meenal, too, walked away from her dream of being India`s Agla Idol, her last performance on stage was the Kishore Kumar hit Yeh Jeevan Hai.

With Meenal out, the Top Five contestants are Karunya, Antara, Anuj, Sandeep and Amey. Antara remains the only girl on an all-boy stage.

Will she be the Girl Idol that Anu Malik has been predicting al these weeks or will she, too, join Meenal off stage next week?

Catch the next episode of Indian Idol to see how they perform and cast your votes for India`s Agla Idol!
