Abhijeet Sawant gets part refund from builder

Abhijeet Sawant, the first Indian Idol, has gained some relief at last. Builder Sunil Bagaria, to whom he had paid Rs35 lakh as advance for a 3BHK flat in Vile Parle that he eventually decided against buying, has agreed to return his money after almost a year.
Bagaria has given him a cheque for Rs10 lakh. For the rest, Bagaria has promised to pay the singer Rs1 lakh every month for 25 months.

Sawant confirmed receipt of the cheque. "But we will be able to encash it on Monday," he said. "Only after getting the cash in hand will I believe that I have got something."

Sawant said he had had enough of chasing the builder for his money and so agreed to the deal. "He has given me an overdraft of Rs25 lakh and every month I have to deposit a cheque for Rs1 lakh." He warned, however, that if any of the cheques bounced, he would file a complaint against the builder. Bagaria was not available for comment despite repeated attempts
